E-commerce Site UI Redesign and System Implementation

The Problem
The website's UI language was inconsistent: accumulated patches instead of a system. For an e-commerce brand, "patchy and outdated" isn't a cosmetic problem; it reads as untrustworthy at exactly the moment a customer decides whether to enter a card number.
Constraints
A live, revenue-generating site — changes ship into production, not into a vacuum
The Approach
Decision 1: System first, pages second. Built the full design system (components + tokens) before touching a single page. Then applied it where money moves: PDP, PLP, Cart, Checkout, Footer. Rejected alternative: restyling pages one by one. That's how the site got patchy in the first place.
Decision 2: Fix UX inside the reskin. The component migration doubled as a UX pass: responsiveness and usability improved on the same pages in the same sweep, instead of scheduling a "phase 2" that never comes.
