Summary
As a Product Manager for Aitoc.com, I spearheaded the creation and launching a portfolio of digital Apps for Magento and Shopify platforms. These apps empower store owners and they can purchased on the Adobe Marketplace or Shopify Marketplace. Apps provide capabilities ranging from product customization to advanced inventory management. In this product case, I detail my journey from ideation to market success, showcasing extensions that continue to dominate Aitoc's top 10 list even in 2024 after several years since I left the company.
Product Portfolio Highlights
Here's a selection of the most popular apps I've contributed to as a product manager, as highlighted on the Aitoc website. This list showcases some of my key projects, reflecting my experience and impact in the field.
Custom Product Designer: An online Web2Print solution facilitating product customization such as printing, embossing, and engraving.
Product Reviews & Ratings: Boosts store product reviews through automated email campaigns.
Pre-Orders: Enables selling out-of-stock products as pre-ordered goods, enhancing sales continuity.
Abandoned Cart Emails Pro: Recovers abandoned carts with a strategic email marketing approach.
Advanced Permissions: Custom role permissions for managers, enhancing security and operational efficiency.
Checkout Fields Manager: Optimizes checkout fields to enhance customer development and marketing strategies.
Multi Warehouse Inventory: Streamlines inventory management across various warehouses, improving accuracy and efficiency.
Idea Development & Validation
I adopted the Double Diamond design approach, emphasizing swift delivery and then making iterative enhancements informed by direct customer feedback. My strategy involved seeking insights from online forums, engaging in daily interviews with Aitoc clients, initiating polls on social media, and conducting customer surveys. This approach ensured that our developments were closely aligned with user needs and preferences.
Competitive Analysis & Market Strategy
Determining our target audience was crucial. Through forecasting potential sales volumes and scrutinizing the unit economics, I was equipped to make well-informed decisions regarding the product's viability. The journey from initial concepts began with flowcharts, advanced to wireframes, and finally led to in-depth conversations with the development team about feasibility and cost considerations, ensuring a strategic approach to market entry and product development.
Development to Launch
During the development phase, I usually was an owner of the backlog and took ownership of the backlog and agile ceremony.
Post-development, I led the validation phase, ensuring each product met Aitoc high standards before transitioning to marketing strategy development. This included a comprehensive plan encompassing:
Target audience engagement
Effective use of digital marketing channels
Pricing strategies
Promotional activities
Post-launch support mechanisms
Monitoring customer feedback and support inquiries post-release allowed me to further refine and enhance product offerings.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
For each application, I focused on:
Conversion rates on the app page
Customer satisfaction and retention metrics
Revenue per app
MRR / ARR (Shopify Apps)
Churn rate (Shopify Apps)
Market share
Support tickets generated per app
Conclusion
My tenure at Aitoc was marked by developing a suite of applications that significantly boosted company revenue and maintained popularity over the years. This success story underscores the importance of customer-centric product development, strategic market positioning, and the agile adaptation of products based on real-world use and feedback.
