Ahwaa is an innovative social platform providing a safe and anonymous space for LGBTQ+ youth in the Arab speaking world.
With a mission rooted in empathy and empowerment, the platform required a digital presence that not only protects its users but also fosters a sense of trust, belonging, and community.
The Challenge
The original platform interface was dated, unintuitive, and difficult to navigate, particularly on mobile. Security, anonymity, and accessibility were paramount. The goal was to redesign the experience with modern UX principles, multilingual support, and a welcoming tone, without compromising user safety.
Our Approach
We began with deep research into the platform’s user base and their unique needs. Privacy, ease of use, and emotional safety guided every decision. Our team created a content architecture that simplified navigation, emphasized user anonymity, and supported multiple languages, including Arabic and English. Visually, we leaned into soft gradients, rounded elements, and a calm, neutral color palette, designing a space that feels both inclusive and secure. Every interface element, from profile settings to discussion threads, was carefully considered to reduce friction and enhance trust.
