OVERVIEW

I started Quasi as a founding designer in 2021, nearly a year before ChatGPT made generative AI mainstream. At that time, most people had never heard of tools like GPT-3, and very few understood what they could actually do.
I spent that year not only designing interfaces, but also convincing people that generative AI had real value. I led the design of multiple products aimed at making these tools accessible to everyday users, stripping away technical barriers and making the experience intuitive, purposeful, and emotionally engaging.
Quasi explored applications across education, entertainment, music, and business, showing how strong design can turn cutting-edge technology into something people actually want to use.

BACKGROUND

When I gained early access to GPT-3 in 2021, few people recognized its potential beyond novelty. Most generative AI tools at the time felt extremely technical. There was no "killer interface" that everyday users felt comfortable with.
I saw an opportunity: create accessible AI products tailored to specific use cases and user needs. Over two years, I explored multiple product directions, each designed to simplify user interaction and unlock genuine value from AI:
Quasi School: Chat-based learning powered by AI tutors across multiple academic disciplines.
Quasi Market: A platform allowing users to easily create, host, and share niche generative AI tools.
Quasi Music: A minimalist interface offering endless streams of AI-generated music.
Quasi Business: A tailored generative AI content platform helping businesses efficiently produce branded social media content.
Each product aimed at one goal: demonstrating how well-designed interfaces could make generative AI deeply valuable and intuitive.

EXPLORATIONS

Quasi School: Interactive Learning
In my first exploration, I designed Quasi School (initially AnythingExpert), a conversational learning platform using GPT-3. I crafted an intuitive chat interface resembling genuine conversation with experts. The design was intentionally conversational, minimizing UI distractions and highlighting dynamic interactions with AI tutors.
Insights:
Users preferred conversational experiences that mimicked genuine human interaction.
Demonstrated early potential of generative AI as an entirely new interaction model, not just an additional feature.
Quasi Market: AI for Everyone
To address broader accessibility, I created Quasi Market—a simple, powerful platform for users to build, host, and share custom generative AI tools without coding. The UI prioritized clarity: no onboarding friction, straightforward input-output interactions, and intuitive content sharing.
Within months, it attracted over 11,000 users and saw 100,000+ user-generated tools. A/B testing various landing pages refined messaging for hobbyists, creators, and educators.
Insights:
Clearly defined, frictionless UI dramatically boosted user adoption and engagement.
Strategic A/B testing significantly improved product positioning and adoption.
Quasi Music: Ambient AI
Driven by curiosity, Quasi Music tested whether generative AI could produce ambient, engaging music experiences. I designed a minimalist, single-interaction UI: tap to play endless, AI-generated music, no friction.
Surprisingly popular, users streamed over 17,000 minutes within a month, describing the product as calming, compelling, and productivity-enhancing.
Insights:
Lightweight, curiosity-driven interfaces could transform niche AI experiments into genuinely engaging experiences.
Minimalist design emphasized the immersive and calming nature of generative music.
Quasi Business: AI-Enhanced Workflow
Business users frequently reached out asking how AI could enhance their workflows. This led me to design Quasi Business, focused explicitly on social media content generation. The UI allowed users to easily customize generative outputs to match brand voice and content requirements across multiple platforms.
Successful pilot programs included a Fortune 500 company and several SMBs, consistently praised for enabling faster, on-brand content creation.
Insights:
Businesses highly valued AI tools specifically tailored to maintain brand authenticity.
Intuitive, flexible interfaces made advanced technology approachable for diverse user segments.

END RESULT

Quasi demonstrated generative AI’s vast potential through intentionally simplified and user-focused design. Each product emphasized seamless usability, rapid value demonstration, and minimal friction, enabling meaningful engagement across multiple domains.
Over 11,000 users and 100,000+ community tools created on Quasi Market.
17,000+ minutes of AI-generated music streamed on Quasi Music within the first month.
Successful adoption by SMBs and Fortune 500 enterprises through Quasi Business.

LEARNINGS

Good technology only works when people can use it. Clear, intuitive interfaces made complex AI tools approachable for anyone, regardless of technical skill.
User-driven experiments validate potential. Rapid prototyping and continuous user feedback directly shaped highly effective, user-centric designs.
Momentum matters most. Quasi Market's rapid adoption highlighted the importance of recognizing and investing in early product traction.
Minimalism enhances immersion. Stripping away unnecessary UI elements created more emotionally impactful experiences, particularly evident with Quasi Music.
Through Quasi, I saw firsthand that thoughtfully designed interfaces could transform generative AI from abstract technology into tangible, engaging, and widely accessible products.
