Problem
Santoni, a leading Italian producer of seamless knitting machinery, wanted to showcase their new generation of one-piece seamless sport bras at ISPO Winter. The bras were designed to replace the standard molded bra while providing perfect lift and support. Santoni needed to find a way to create innovative sports bras for larger-breasted women that would guarantee higher control, comfort, and performance. To achieve this goal, Santoni created the bras using their innovative and brand-new TL technology and production process. However, they faced the challenge of creating a product that was eco-friendly and bacterio-static while still being comfortable for women with larger breasts.
Solution
Santoni used their new seamless TL technology to knit the one-piece seamless sport bras directly on the machine. This allowed them to create almost ready-made apparel with essential seams only in just a few minutes. The intarsia concept gave the garment an excellent "next-to-skin" comfort as it avoided the need for seams. The 3D and placed reinforcement structures meant that the engineered area seamlessly followed the woman's breast, providing better control, perfect lift, and ergonomic body fit. Different yarn counts were used in different strategic areas of the bra to obtain reinforced structures. All this resulted in improved breast control during sports activity. Santoni also used innovative eco-friendly yarns with different thicknesses and yarn textures for moisture management. The single or unique two-layer bra construction gave perfect moisture management for a 'no skin irritation' effect and guaranteed free movement.
