SevenDollarSites: Affordable Web Solutions for Small Businesses

Kate Pearzel

Overview

SevenDollarSites was created as a simple yet powerful solution for small businesses that needed an affordable and professional online presence. Many small business owners face the challenge of either paying for costly web development services or settling for DIY platforms that limit creativity and scalability. This project aimed to bridge that gap with a streamlined $7 website solution built on WordPress and Elementor.
By focusing on speed, clarity, and usability, I designed and developed a system that empowers small businesses to launch websites quickly without sacrificing quality. Each site followed a structured framework that balanced customization with efficiency, allowing clients to get online and start reaching customers with minimal friction.

Challenges

The main challenge was designing a productized service that could deliver quality at scale while still maintaining affordability. Since the offering was limited to $7, I had to be strategic with scope: templates, features, and customization options needed to be clear and easy to implement without adding unnecessary complexity.
Another challenge was balancing flexibility with simplicity. Many clients wanted something unique but didn’t always have clear brand guidelines or content prepared. To address this, I created a modular template system that allowed for quick adjustments in colors, typography, and layout while maintaining consistent design standards across different websites.

Final Thoughts

SevenDollarSites became more than just a budget-friendly solution—it proved that with the right strategy, professional websites don’t have to be expensive or complicated. The streamlined workflow showed how even small businesses with tight budgets could still present themselves online in a credible and polished way.
For me, this project reinforced the importance of design systems and repeatable frameworks in web development. By focusing on reusability and efficiency, I was able to deliver high-quality results in less time, creating a model that could scale while continuing to meet the needs of budget-conscious businesses.
