Following the financial crisis in Lebanon, prices were set in USD and converted to LBP as per the daily conversion rate.
And upon observing small grocery stores, I noticed that some do this manually _ that's just not right.
the challenge _ the solution
many owners still use pen and paper to record sales
automate sales and generate reports
2. owners manually count inventory and check for expired items
automate inventory and send alerts
3. item's price may vary as different members attend the store
automatically convert item prices from USD to LBP
4. off-the-shelf POS systems are too expensive
keep lightweight to ensure low-price
the end product
minimum learning curve
automate Sales, Inventory, and Reporting
maintain simplicity and intuitiveness
action buttons are at finger reach
countless features _ 4
in English and in Arabic
print receipts over Bluetooth
item expiry and low-stock alerts
lightweight to run on low-price devices
even out
cash exchange assistant
automatic currency converter
add outstanding balance to customer's account
Most used POS systems prioritize function over design
_ just dull and outdated.
unnecessary conclusion
smplMart aims to make small grocery stores more efficient by providing a simple, intuitive and low-cost solution by addressing key issues such as fluctuating currency rates, manual record keeping, inconsistent pricing, lack of inventory data, and high upfront cost.
That is achieved by designing the app to automatically convert currencies, automate the 3 main functions allowing for accurate sales and inventory data, and run on low-price handheld devices.
The design aesthetic and user-friendly features are made to positively enhance user experience and store operations.
