GoNoodle: Trophy Case & Gamification - Making Learning More Fun
I evolved the gamification system for GoNoodle by creating the Trophy Case - a clear, motivating space where kids (K–5) can track their progress and feel proud of completing challenges. The goal was to boost engagement through visible achievements, without overwhelming young users.
Spoiler alert: Kids are loving it! I've seen so many video reactions from them in the classroom, and how excited, motivated, and proud they are, it melts my heart!
I designed the Trophy Case with two entry points: a Mini View accessible from anywhere on the platform, and a Full Page view that gives a deeper dive into class progress, earned badges, and challenge details. Since most sessions are guided by teachers, it was important to keep things accessible and intuitive for both adults and kids.
Trophy case: Modal and Full experience.
In Trophy Case kids are able to view and interact with their latest progress, badges, and challenges, deciding on the next goal to take or just to be proud of what they already achieved!
The badges and challenges were designed with the thought of encouragement, thus they are visible from the start and not “locked” or grayed-out - making the experience intuitive and rewarding.
Beyond engagement, the Trophy Case became a valuable tool for partners too, allowing custom branded badges that promote learning and their products in a meaningful way.
And there's more coming to trophy case in the future, since it's not a static component, but a flexible, dynamic piece, that can be transformed and pumped up even more :)
The next steps for Trophy case and near endless possibilities for kids to have fun learning.
And, of course, each achievement was celebrated with the animation of the badge/challenge reveal and distinct sound ;)
🔎 Evaluating the Impact: A Full-User Cycle
To sum up, Trophy case is part of a bigger shift toward meaningful gamification in the classroom. Over the next year, we’re running a full user cycle: gathering insights from students, teachers, and schools to refine the system and make sure it really supports better learning.
With real feedback and iteration, the Trophy Case is evolving into something even more dynamic - a living, breathing part of the classroom routine.
