TrackIT was a logistics-technology start-up focusing on the tracking of local transportation. The founder contacted me to get insights into the logistics world as they saw an opportunity for local transportation data collection. I advised the current local and domestic logistics regulations as well as the public and private sector market demands. With this information, I was able to advise pivots in the original plan to focus more on the tech side of the business. As there were already e-logs for every truck, legally implemented, it would be an easier shift to acquire the data from the e-log management system rather than contacting the shippers, receivers, and transportation companies for their travel information or installing more tracking tech in their trucks. The consultation also involved government regulations, laws, and private-sector practices.
