DND Gel — Ferrari Red Season Campaign

A Campaign Email Built From Scratch, Sourced Entirely From the Brand's Own World

Overview

Designed a promotional campaign email for DND Gel's Ferrari Red shade, built around a "the fan-favorite is back" story. Every asset in the design, from product shots to swatch photography, was sourced directly from DND's own site and Instagram rather than built from a provided kit.
Note: the email's hero section uses an animated GIF, shown at the top of this case study. In the full-length email frame below, that section appears blank, since a GIF can't be captured as a static screenshot.

Context

Ferrari Red is a DND fan-favorite with a loyal following, known for its bold red with fiery orange undertones. A recent formula shift had quietly warmed the shade past what loyal customers expected, and the brand's response was to correct it and bring the original back. That's a strong moment for an email, since it isn't a generic restock, it's a "she's back" story for people who already love the color.

The Challenge

Typical seasonal or restock emails tend to:
Treat a shade return as a routine announcement instead of a moment worth building excitement around
Lean on generic banners rather than real product proof
Skip the story behind why something changed and came back
For DND, the challenge was to design an email that:
Told the formula story in a way that felt like gossip between friends, not a technical correction notice
Proved the shade with real swatch photography, not illustration or stock imagery
Included a GIF to add movement and personality, pulled from the brand's own visual world

Strategic Approach

The email follows an announce-then-explain structure:
Announce → Introduce → Explain → Convert
Leading with the free-gift offer gets attention immediately, then the story earns the reader's investment in the shade itself before the final ask.

Design Approach

Purpose: Make a shade correction feel like a comeback worth celebrating, using only real, sourced DND brand imagery.
The email opens with a banner announcing a free Ferrari Red with qualifying orders, followed by an animated hero declaring "It's Ferrari Red Season!" and a "Shop Now" CTA. A product shot leads into a swatch photo introducing the shade, then "The Tea" section tells the formula story in a casual, conversational voice, backed by a second close-up swatch for proof. The email closes by restating the free-gift offer with a final CTA.

Design System

DND's existing red, white, and cream palette carried through every section
Wave-shaped section dividers separate the offer, story, and product blocks
Two real swatch photos, one general and one close-up, placed to build visual proof of the shade
Bold, high-contrast CTA buttons repeated three times through the flow

Conversion Thinking

An animated hero earns attention before a word is read
Leading with the free-gift banner puts the offer in view right after
"The Tea" framing turns a formula correction into a narrative worth reading, not a technical note
Repeating the CTA at three points gives the reader multiple natural exit points to convert
The CTA path moves from Notice → Understand → Act

Outcome

A complete campaign email that turns a product correction into a reason to come back and shop, proving a seasonal or restock send doesn't have to read as routine.
