Lexia is an ed-tech, SAAS company that develops research-backed literacy curricula for all ages, along with professional learning courses for teachers. They're working hard to combat low literacy levels in the U.S., providing evidence-based instruction to forge a better future for everyone.
I was particularly excited to work with Lexia because I could tell their company cares deeply about their mission. I got the opportunity to learn so much about the science of reading, culturally responsive teaching, and overall the current state of the U.S. education system while also knowing I had the chance to make a difference with my work.
My process 💻
My blog writing process begins with research on the assigned topic, competitors, and SEO keywords. Before working at Lexia, I was completely unfamiliar with the science of reading. I dove into my research to get a full understanding of not just Lexia as a company, but the science behind reading and literacy. With every blog I write, I learn something new.
From there, I craft a thorough outline with strong headers and a general SEO content overview with strong page titles, meta descriptions, h1s, alts, and anchor text. When doing the actual writing portion of my work, I make frequent references to the company's style guide, referencing tone-of-voice guidelines along with customer personas, if available.
While the theory behind the science of reading and teaching could be incredibly complex at times, I intentionally created content that made these topics easy to understand. The final products performed fantastically on Google, fit right into the brand's tone of voice, and provided value to their potential customers.
Outcomes ✨
By the end of my time as a contract copywriter with Lexia, I had written 25+ blogs, with the majority of them making it to the first page (if not #1) on Google for their targeted keywords.
Take a look! 👀
This blog currently sits at #1 on Google search for its targeted keywords. Before, Lexia sat at #98.
This blog also sits at #1 on Google for its targeted keywords, originally Lexia sat at #22.
