The all-new Volkswagen Golf 8 is here. I had the opportunity to work with French directors Julien & Quentin and MarkenFilm Berlin for the launch of a new VW Golf 8 campaign in Germany. My work focused on the creation and animation of 3D emoji icons for several fun life scenes around the car.

The new Golf 8 is where life happens, where family is the key.
Smileys have become essential elements in the parent/child dialogue. Here they bring generations together in the sometimes difficult choice of meals and road stories.
J&Q created 3 key scenes for 3 moments of life: searching for a meal, roadside break and coming back home. The film aims to show latest the technical innovations and new features of the Golf 8.
design process
Due to a tight deadline, I didn't have time to sketch the characters, everything was done while sculpting and modeling. I used classic emojis as a 3D base and twisted them to my liking with details and colors, resulting in a playful and unique fantasy of everyday life.
I stylized the Japanese meal: European edition. Sushi, maki, and onigiri which are now so familiar.
