Which stages of an influencer or UGC programme automate first, and which one should stay human? Discovery, tracking, reminders and reporting automate first. Choosing the creator and approving the content stay human.
Most creator programmes run on a spreadsheet and a person's memory. Someone scrolls Instagram, TikTok and YouTube for handles. Briefs go out by hand. Every Friday the views, likes and comments are copied into a sheet that is stale by Monday. Finance asks which invoices are for content that is actually live and the answer takes a day.
We ran the whole loop on our own account first. A faceless Threads account went from near zero to 1.15M views in 27 days and from 120 followers to 615, on four tools: Claude drafting against a tested format library, Notion as the calendar, self-hosted n8n publishing through the Threads API and firing the first-hour reply, and a discovery toolkit that ranks the accounts and posts worth learning from.
The stages, in the order they pay back:
1. Discovery. A script searches the niche by keyword, reads followers, recent views, post count and bio for each account, ranks them and writes a CSV. Hours of scrolling become a nightly job.
2. Tracking. When a creator posts, the live link is captured and views, likes, comments and clicks are pulled from the platform API into one dashboard. Nobody copies numbers on Friday.
3. Reminders. Slack or email before every posting deadline, from the calendar, not from memory.
4. Reporting and payouts. Weekly and monthly sheets produced on schedule, cost per engagement per campaign computed automatically, invoices routed to finance once the content is verified live, payment status back to the creator.
What stays human: which creator to sign, and whether a piece of content is right for the brand. On our own account every AI draft still passed a review before it published, and the weekly format review, where twelve posts out of 190 turned out to carry about 30 percent of all views, was a person reading the data.
Where official APIs exist (Meta Graph, YouTube Data) a client programme is built on them first. A signed-in browser toolkit is for research, not for production.
