Prompt Cowboy

The prompt cowboy team got in touch for a revamp of their little robot cowboy for their brand. Originally created by the team using AI, our task was to explore alternative avenues to bring prompt cowboy up to snuff and unlock his true identity as mascotte.

The initial explorations

As with all illustration and mascotte projects, me and Mary started collecting a billion different inspiration styles, paired with ideas, concepts, crazy takes in a figjam file. We then shared the file with the client to gather feedback.

Sketches over Sketches

Once the first round of feedback and direction was done, based on the client feedback Mary started on delivering a plethora of initial sketch designs. How did the cowboy look? Does the cowboy have a gun? Does he ride a horse? How does his hat look like? These and many more are the questions we start exploring during the sketching phase.

Identifying Potential Routes

Once the sketching phase is done, we sent the sketches back to the client, to review and identify which ones had potential. Then, we normally go back to the style board and associate some of the body types / character designs, to a matching style.

Revision Rounds

As it usually goes in this kind of projects, it's only once the first concepts hit the client, that one can start getting valuable feedback. The client immediately redirected our focus to use a more orange / sunset vibe color palette, and gave us a bit more direction on the styling. We went back to the drawing board, and suggested a couple more options that hit closer to what they needed.

The Final Showdown!

Once we delivered the next round, the client gave us a bit more direction and we landed on a final design for the mascotte, which we then delivered in both a high-res 2D/3D model, and an alternative Pixelated style. As often goes in this kind of projects, the process is very organic and the results unpredictable! But we always manage to deliver the results for our clients.
