Project Brief

Thalassa is an app made for Thalassemia patients as the end-user who need to do a routine blood transfusion and iron chelation in most cases. Since the number of sufferers in Indonesia is quite a lot, which is around ten thousand people, the government gives free treatment using the BPJS mechanism.
The problems appear when the patients need to do the administration, which is complex and takes a long time. Meanwhile, the patient with various conditions and circumstances needs the treatment as soon as possible.

The Goal

The project aims to create a health app that can simplify hospital administration to facilitate and accommodate thalassemia patients in doing their treatments.

My Role

As the main UI/UX Designer and User Researcher, I have some responsibilities to do the following task:
Research the Thalassemia diseases and the hospital administration system
Conduct User Research to find pain-points
Identify the objectives and the challenges of the project
Create persona and ideate solutions
Design The Mobile App to solve the related problems and fulfill the users' needs

The Objectives

Create a feature where the users can book a schedule for the transfusion and know the bloodstock
Create a feature where the users can book and claim the medicines since iron chelation therapy is needed
Create a feature where the users can register their donor blood if blood is unavailable at the hospital
Provide informative information regarding the thalassemia issue to increase the awareness
Implement the newest design trend to give a fresh visual for the users

The Challenges

To simplify the hospital administration for thalassemia patients
To Increase the awareness about Thalassemia disease
Create an interactive mobile app product

Persona

After all the research was done, a persona was created to guide the ideation process.

Ideation & Sketching Phase

The ideation phase started in making low-fidelity wireframes to create an overview of the solution, which will solve the encountered problems.
