Crafting Seamless Fitness Experiences

Transforming the fitness journey for older adults and their families from fragmented, low-engagement tools into a personalized, community-driven experience—powered by intelligent UX, gamification, and habit-forming product strategy.

The Challenge
Aging populations are growing, but adult health outcomes are declining—and most digital fitness tools aren't built to help. 60+ users often abandon apps within the first month due to complex interfaces, generic plans, and lack of social connection, resulting in poor retention and limited ROI for wellness partners.
The Solution
I founded and developed the end-to-end brand and design experience for Fountain Fitness, reimagining it as a habit-building, socially engaging fitness platform. We transformed a solo, transactional workout app into a vibrant, community-driven experience that could scale across generational audiences. The platform featured short, medically-reviewed workouts, social accountability mechanics, and dynamic personalization. Every design decision was guided by inclusive research and behavior design principles tailored to the needs of older users and their families.
My Approach
Led qualitative and quantitative research with over 40 participants across age groups (30–76) to identify usability barriers, social motivators, and trust signals, and several quantitative surveys (n=200).
Developed a modular design system that adapted based on user ability, injury risk, and fitness goals—ensuring personalization at scale.
Integrated neuroscience-backed gamification, including 'gift-first' logic, habit triggers, family competitions, and surprise rewards to drive virality and routine.
Enabled social group features like family leaderboards, team challenges, and shared workouts—integrated into Apple iMessage, Google Chat, and WhatsApp—to deepen emotional connection and drive retention.
Built a compelling product vision and scalable product roadmap that included partnerships with insurers and eldercare services, creating new monetization opportunities and user acquisition channels.

The Outcome
The newly designed Fountain Fitness platform improved retention by 40% and doubled weekly active usage, transforming it into one of the most trusted wellness platforms for multi-generational families. Positive user feedback centered on its ease of use, social features, and adaptable workouts. The redesign also accelerated strategic partnerships with eldercare providers and insurers, positioning the product for large-scale B2B and B2C expansion.
