Product Management Case Study: Arc Security Feature Creation

Project:

1. Develop a new feature for Real Estate safety application Arc.
2. Develop the web dashboard brokerage-facing interface.

Team: 10 members including software developers, business analysts, and product designers.

Phase I: Develop new feature for Real Estate safety application Arc.

• Redesigned mobile front-end application (wireframing and design.)
• Ideation of three new features (In-App Calendar, Shortcuts, Safety Form)
• Market research of both brokerages and real estate agents in the Greater Seattle Area through surveys and interviews.

Market Research -- Feature Ideation

• Utilized surveys and interviews to reach out to individuals for market research. Surveyed over 300 real estate agents in the Greater Seattle Area.
  • Question examples:
    • Imagine a safety app that utilizes a timer that requires you to check in at your set intervals. eg. checking in every 45 minutes. Which of the following methods would you prefer for checking in?
    • What are the current safety measures you take to protect yourself as an agent?
    • What features would you like to see in a safety app?

• Real estate agents prefer a hands-free approach for safety, as anything hands-on can affect their preexisting workflows.

In-App Calendar

Allows the real estate agent to communicate their schedule and safety timer setups with their managing broker.

Allows the real estate agent to acquire information from their scheduled clients in order to maintain safety. People are less likely to commit violence when personal information of them is on file.
