Chocolate/Chocolatier Brand Build for Netflix Contestant

Goal:

In April of 2021, I had an American client approach me through Wix to design branding for her upcoming Chocolate/Chocolatier company. She explained that she had been working in Michelin star restaurants creating unique chocolate-based creations, and she had been invited to star in Netflix's School of Chocolate. She wanted to capitalize on this publicity and use the opportunity to launch her boutique chocolate and display her work online. Her keywords used to describe her ideal result were luxurious, modern, and approachable. She also requested a unique symbol to identify with her brand

My Process:

First, I undertook extensive research into what makes a brand luxurious, her competition, her ideal demographic, what she wanted her future company to look like, and everything in between. After establishing a solid base of information, I went to work designing 3-5 black and white concepts for a logo, which included her requested symbol. We went through 3 rounds of designs before selecting her perfect logo and then went into brand colour discovery. After giving a presentation of the different variations of her branding colours, she selected her ideal choice and I went forward to finalize her logo and branding guidelines in clear documents. As a final presentation of her newly designed branding, I created multiple mock-ups of how it would look on her products and advertising. As she was ecstatic with the progress so far, she requested I design a website that displayed her story, her brand and had future e-commerce functionality. The process was very straight-forward as I had already gathered the information during the branding process, and I had developed the guidelines to accommodate web use.

Success:

We launched her website shortly before her airdate on Netflix, and with great success, as it went on without any major problems. Her fame on the show was short-lived, but she left a meaningful enough impact to receive many messages and future work requests through her website and linked social media. After checking back in with the statistics of her website, it reported major traffic whilst the show was on the front page of Netflix and has kept a steady rate of site attendees since. I will be checking in with her shortly to see if her products are ready for wholesale.
