Steq is a fintech app that gives people access to a real US Dollar account, straight from their phone. It is a simple way to pay for the things that matter: Netflix, Upwork, Apple Pay, global subscriptions. It's built for people whose local banks haven't caught up with the world yet, and it gives them a way in.

Money is personal. So the design had to feel trustworthy at a glance.

Here's what I was focused on from the start:

Make every screen feel easy to navigate, even when real money is involved

Help users feel in control, especially during transfers and card actions

Keep the visual style clear enough to feel premium, but warm enough to feel human

Make sure first-time users don't feel lost or intimidated

Designing for fintech is tricky. People are trusting you with their money, and that pressure shows up in every design decision. Some of the real challenges:

Finding the balance between simple and secure, too bare and users get nervous, too much and they get confused

Designing the transfer flow in a way that didn't feel stressful or risky

Keeping things visually consistent across screens that look and feel very different (home, cards, transfer, onboarding)

Making sure the confirmation screen gave users enough information to feel confident without overwhelming them

Here's what the final design delivered:

A trust-first visual identity built around a confident purple palette and clean typography that makes balances and transaction details easy to read at a glance

A transfer flow broken into simple steps, ending with a clear confirmation sheet so users know exactly what they're agreeing to before anything goes through

A card management screen with one-tap shortcuts like freeze, set limits, view details so users always feel like they're the ones in charge

A friendly onboarding experience with a 3D character that takes the edge off what can feel like a serious, high-stakes product

Micro-interactions and layout choices designed to reduce hesitation and build quiet confidence throughout the app
