A retail brand in NYC had too much inventory moving slowly and was out of stock for customer orders at a high rate. I created a dashboard showing product performance and optimized inventory reorder amounts using SQL. I also handled the procurement process for overseas vendors.

Highlight best-selling products

Orders were recorded in a SQL database. I wrote a SQL query in Retool to create a list of products and their sales performance. The list could be sorted by style, color, material, and units sold per day. The merchandising team used this list to identify best-selling products, customer preferences, and products to discount.

Reduce out of stock orders

I wrote a SQL query based on historical sales data to calculate the quantity of each SKU that should be reordered from the vendor. I cleaned up duplicate items in the Shopify store so that customers could not accidentally order an out-of-stock product. This reduced out-of-stock rates by 80%.

Procurement of new styles

I managed the procurement process to bring new styles to the store every month, an increase from the old semi-annual schedule. I collaborated with the merchandising team to select each month's styles, ordered samples, placed purchase orders, and resolved any customs issues. The more frequent product releases from private label vendors allowed the brand to experiment with new styles at limited quantities.
I supervised product photography and ensured photos met Shopify's technical requirements. I added new products and photos onto Shopify.
