Every interior designer knows this meeting.
You describe the wall. Soft. Mineral. A little irregular. Warm when the light drops.
The client nods. They have no idea what you mean.
Then three weeks later the finish goes on, it’s not quite what they pictured, and you spend the rest of the project defending a decision you were sure about.
That gap between the finish in your head and the finish on the wall is where good design quietly loses its nerve.
Atelier Surface works in that gap. Bespoke plaster, limewash, restoration and metallic leaf, made to match a specific palette and built to last.
But their old problem was our brief. How do you show a designer what a surface will feel like, before any hands are on the wall?
So we built the site as a conversation.
It starts with a belief: “Texture is the beginning.” It asks you to look closer, with raking-light studies that show how a finish changes when the light does. It shows the work in before, during and after, so a client can see how it was made, not just how it ended. It answers the questions designers actually ask, like whether a finish can be matched to a palette or whether it will suit an older building. And it ends with a simple invitation to tell them about your space.
The payoff is trust that arrives early.
A designer can send the link and say “this is what I mean.” The client sees it. The brief gets easier. The finish matches the picture.
That’s what a craft website can do for the people who specify the work. It stops being a gallery and becomes a shared language.
If your best clients are the ones who have to explain you to someone else, make that explanation effortless. #BuildingInPublic #WebDesign #UXDesign #CreativeDirection #BrandDesign
