Overview

Ajebuta is a mobile marketplace app designed to connect freelancers with clients for project-based work. The product needed to serve two distinct user types (freelancers and clients) within a single, intuitive experience.

Design Challenge

The core challenge was designing a platform that balanced discoverability for clients browsing freelancer profiles with usability for freelancers managing their work pipeline. The app needed to handle profile creation, project posting, proposal submission, messaging, and payment flows without overwhelming either user type.

UX Approach

I mapped the complete user journey for both freelancer and client personas, identifying key decision points and potential friction areas. The information architecture was structured around three primary flows:
Discovery — browsing, filtering, and evaluating freelancer profiles
Engagement — posting projects, submitting proposals, and negotiating terms
Delivery — messaging, file sharing, milestone tracking, and payments

UI Design

The interface uses a clean, card-based layout system with clear visual hierarchy. Key design decisions included:
— A bottom navigation pattern optimized for one-handed mobile use — Profile cards designed to surface the most relevant information (skills, rating, availability) at a glance — A messaging interface integrated directly into the project workflow — Status indicators and progress tracking for active projects
The full design was built in Figma with a component library and interactive prototype covering all major flows.
