Captain's Essentials came to me with a clear ambition: grow their presence on Instagram and build a brand identity strong enough to back it up. They produce men's care products — a category that's saturated, competitive, and highly visual. They needed more than posts. They needed a point of view.
The goals were threefold: establish a cohesive creative direction, build a consistent and recognizable content system for Instagram, and ultimately expand their reach to a new audience.
Creative Direction · Content Strategy · AI-Generated Imagery
Research & Discovery
Before touching a single visual, I started with research. I studied the brand — their existing assets, tone, and product positioning — and then mapped their competitive landscape. Who were they up against? What were those brands doing well, and where were the gaps?
From there, I built a comprehensive overview board in Canva, pulling together everything that had been created before, alongside reference imagery, competitor content, and early creative thinking. This gave the client a clear picture of where they stood and where we could take them.
Creative Direction
With the research grounded, I moved into proposing the first creative direction. This included defining the visual language — the color palette, the tone of imagery, and crucially, the typography. Choosing the right font sounds like a small decision, but for a men's care brand, it carries a lot of weight. It signals sophistication, trust, and character all at once.
Once the direction was approved, I began building out the content.
Content Production
My primary tool for image generation was Flora AI. I used it to create the first nine posts — each one carefully prompted to reflect the brand's style, speak to their audience, and hold up aesthetically against premium competitors in the space.
The response was strong, so we kept going. Over the course of the project, I produced more than 30 diverse images in total — spanning single-post formats, carousels, and assets suited for short-form video. Every image was built around the brand's identity: clean, masculine, polished.

The Results
When we started, Captain's Essentials had around 1,700 followers on Instagram. Today, that number sits at 10,400. Growth like that doesn't come from one thing alone. It was a combination of strong creative direction and beautiful imagery working in sync with their paid strategy on Facebook and Instagram ads. But what the visuals did was give the brand something to stand behind — a look and feel that made people stop scrolling, take notice, and follow.
This project is a good example of what happens when branding and marketing strategy are treated as one conversation rather than two separate ones. The creative work gave the ads something worth amplifying. The ads gave the creative work the reach it deserved.
