Project Overview

What is this project about?
Medicare is a Telemedicine app with HMO integration that is meant to assist low income earners and give them access to healthcare from the comfort of their homes, work place, and devices. The app allows patients to access medical consultations remotely through video, voice, or chat. Patients can consult with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals without leaving their homes or workplaces. This feature offers convenience and accessibility to patients, especially those who live in rural areas or have mobility issues.

PROBLEM

Low income earners and people in rural areas and areas with poor mobility sometimes do not have access to quality healthcare services and this affects their quality of life greatly. Many people face difficulties in accessing healthcare services due to various reasons such as geographic location, lack of transportation, long wait times, and busy schedules. Additionally, during times of pandemics or emergencies, it may not be safe or practical to visit a healthcare facility in person.

PROJECT GOAL/SOLUTION

To develop a Telemedicine app that enables people to access healthcare services remotely, from the comfort of their homes or any location with internet access. The app should provide a secure and user-friendly platform that allows patients to schedule appointments, consult with healthcare providers, receive medical advice, and get prescriptions filled online.

Takeaways

Impact

Users said that the Telemedicine app with the integration of HMO is something that definitely has the capacity to bridge the gap between low income earners and health care. The ability to access medical professionals from their phones brings a sense of comfort and assurance to users that assistance is not as far away as they previously used to think.

Lessons

I learned that even though the problem I was trying to solve was a big one, diligently going through each step of the design process and aligning with specific user needs helped me come up with solutions that were both feasible and useful.

Next Steps

Carry out more usability studies on both mobile and responsive app.
Conduct research to find how successful the app is in bridging the gap between low income earners and healthcare
Conduct research to find out how to improve the accessibility of the app and features that will make the user experience more seamless.
