On-location videography and interviews for the Our Oceans Conference, capturing environmental storytelling and documentary-style footage for post-event use.
I was hired to capture documentary-style b-roll and interviews during the Our Oceans Conference in Palau, highlighting environmental discussions, global delegates, and the surrounding natural landscape.
The goal was to create a versatile visual archive of the conference that could support post-event storytelling, press, and future communications while authentically documenting the scale and impact of the event.
Project Context
I was brought on as part of a small, flown-in production crew from Guam, working on location throughout the conference to document both formal programming and candid moments between global delegates.
The approach prioritized observational, documentary-style coverage, allowing the event to be represented naturally rather than staged or overly produced.
Key Deliverables
Cinematic b-roll capturing Palau's natural environment alongside conference activity, reinforcing the connection between place and purpose.
On-site interviews with international delegates and participants, recorded in documentary style to preserve authenticity and clarity.
Unscripted moments and observational footage documenting interactions, discussions, and the scale of the event.
My Contribution
- Captured documentary-style b-roll across multiple locations during the conference
- Recorded interviews with delegates and participants under active event conditions
- Worked as part of a small, mobile production crew, adapting quickly to schedules and environments
- Maintained visual consistency while capturing both environmental context and human stories
Closing Note
This project highlights my experience working on location with small crews to document large-scale international events, balancing environmental context, human stories, and real-time production demands through a documentary lens.
