Project Overview

Bank of Ceylon, one of the leading financial institutions in Sri Lanka, providing its clients with various bank services. In my revamp users can review accounts activity, transfer money between two banks, pay for services and pay with QR.

What made me take this project

Bank of Ceylon B app is a mobile banking application that allows users to perform a wide range of banking tasks, including checking account balances, transferring funds, paying bills, and more. While the app was functional, it had an outdated design that made it difficult for users to navigate and use effectively.
As a UI/UX designer, I took on the project of revamping the app’s user interface in my free time. My goal was to create a more modern, user-friendly design that would improve the user experience and make it easier for customers to complete their banking tasks.

Process

To start the project, I conducted a thorough analysis of the existing app to identify pain points and areas for improvement. I reviewed user feedback, conducted usability testing, and analyzed user flows to understand how customers interacted with the app.
Based on my research, I developed a new information architecture that streamlined the navigation and made it easier for users to find the features they needed. I then created wireframes and prototypes to test the new design and make improvements.
The new design featured a clean, modern aesthetic with intuitive navigation and clear calls to action. I made use of color and typography to create a visual hierarchy that prioritized the most important features and information.

Results

The revamped UI design for Bank of Ceylon B app has been well-received by users, who appreciate the improved user experience and more modern design. The app’s usability has improved significantly, with users finding it easier to navigate and complete their banking tasks.
While this was not a commercial project, the revamped UI design serves as a valuable example of how a thoughtful redesign can improve the user experience of an existing product.

Conclusion

Revamping the UI of Bank of Ceylon B app was a rewarding experience that allowed me to improve the user experience of a widely-used banking application. By conducting thorough research and taking a user-centric approach to the design process, I was able to create a modern, user-friendly design that has been well-received by customers.
