QR Video Intercom app

My Role: Lead Product Designer

Timeline: 6 months (Oct 2022 – Apr 2023)

Problem Statement: Traditional systems for access, tracking, and communication are often fragmented, inconvenient, and lack real-time interaction. Users needed a unified, secure, and user-friendly solution to manage multiple use cases: property access, vehicle tracking, luggage security, and office communication.

Objective: Design a mobile app that leverages QR codes and real-time video intercom functionality to address multiple user needs:

Smart Doorbell: Grant property access remotely.

Vehicle Tag: Get notified if your vehicle is causing issues where it’s parked.

Luggage Tag: Never lose your luggage again.

Office Assistant: Never miss out on a customer or visitor.

Research Methods:

Conducted user interviews with homeowners, drivers, travelers, and office managers.

Analyzed competitor apps(DoorVi,QBell, NGF132, Dappl) to identify gaps and opportunities.

Created usability tests for early prototypes to gather feedback.

Users wanted a single solution to address multiple pain points (access, tracking, and communication).

Real-time notifications were critical for all use cases (e.g., vehicle issues, luggage tracking, visitor alerts).

Users preferred a simple, unified interface that could adapt to different scenarios.

So for each use case a different product was made, which is accessed through our app:

Reflection: This project taught me the importance of designing for versatility without compromising usability. If I had more time, I would explore AI-powered features like predictive alerts for vehicle issues or automated visitor logs for offices.
