Summary
We refreshed Consolidated Elevator, a 50 year old NYC Elevator Maintenance brand. We worked together to redefine their mission, messaging and visual identity. Then we created a website and print suite giving Consolidated the look & feel it deserves as well as the function it needs to reduce the friction that slows, otherwise, effective, brand promotion initiatives.
Strategy
Via interviewing key staff members, examining key competitors and engaging with Leadership to dig down and really understand the business, we were able to identify what really matters to the company. What really moves the needle? How do we make this website work for you? These are the questions that must be answered well in order to build any company a tool that provides real daily value.
1 - Follow The Money
We analyze several years of P&Ls to trace key recurring revenue sources and understand what drives, grows & maintains that income. Our belief is that all design & architectural choices need to trace back to drivers identified in those findings.
2 - Know The Competition
We analyzed 10 competitor websites listing matching & unique elements for all brands. All companies marketed a nearly identical services offering. We noticed a discrepancy between individual service revenue value and the hierarchical treatment any service was given as a result. Services were promoted equally. We new what to do.
3 - Differentiate
How do we stand out amongst the roughly 450 competitors in the New York market fighting for the same business? Well, we realized that no service vertical was highlighted more than any other regardless of its significance to the bottom line. The idea? Brand Consolidated Elevator as "The Maintenance Company." Maintenance was clearly the most valuable driver of success in this industry. Other service verticals are lower yield and higher risk. Achieving a branding result that made the client's brand synonymous with Maintenance Service would yield a favorable market position that sells the most important value.
4 - Get What You Need
We worked with Consolidated to identify what they needed most from online for the company. New clients? Vendor Relationships? HR? We worked with the client to confirm and order four major goals for the website :
