Limón, Restaurante Peruano — Branding, Visual Identity & Storytelling

Limón is a celebration of contemporary Peruvian flavor in the heart of San Francisco. With seven locations across the Bay Area, it stands as a cultural ambassador — introducing diners to the warmth, color, and complexity of Peruvian cuisine in a way that feels modern, joyful, and unmistakably authentic. The creative direction was built around a simple idea: Peruvian heritage, distilled into modern clarity. The identity avoids clichés and instead focuses on the emotional qualities of the Limón experience — generosity, color, rhythm, and an approachable sense of belonging.

Perú, a Country of Unfolding Universes

A central component of the visual system is a series of commissioned illustrations by Peruvian artist Zelva Uno. His work explores Peru’s diverse ecosystems — from coast to highlands to jungle — portraying the country as a place of layered worlds, each vibrant and alive. These illustrations serve two purposes: they introduce guests to the vast natural richness that shapes Peruvian cuisine, and they add depth to the brand experience through narrative. Each piece becomes a window into a different “universe” of Peru, reminding viewers that its flavors are rooted in places of extraordinary complexity and beauty.

The logo system merges geometric structure with organic softness, nodding to the duality present in Peruvian food culture: refined preparation rooted in homemade spirit. 

Limón’s renewed identity feels both global and deeply rooted. It reflects a cuisine that has traveled the world while staying connected to its origins, and a restaurant group that continues to evolve while honoring the flavors — and the ecosystems — that shaped it.
