4.0 Expert Hub: Two-Sided Marketplace in Webflow

The problem

Education and social-impact founders need specialists — fundraising help, curriculum support, legal, web development — and they rarely know where to find someone who understands their world. A generic freelance marketplace returns a thousand people, none of whom have heard of a charter authorizer.
4.0 wanted to close that gap with a vetted expert network. Which meant the site had to work as a directory and a product, not a brochure — and had to keep working as the network grew past whatever we launched with.

What I built

I designed and built the 4.0 Expert Hub in Webflow as a two-sided marketplace, with two distinct audiences moving through it in opposite directions.
For ventures hiring: a browsable directory organized across 12 service categories — Consulting, Creative Services, Curriculum Support, Executive Coaching, Financial Services, Fundraising, HR, Legal, Marketing, Operations, Tech Support, and Web Development — leading into individual expert profiles covering background, expertise, and rates.
For experts joining: a separate application path, supported by a section that explains the vetting behind the network — test projects, live screening, skill reviews — so applicants understand the bar before they apply rather than after they're rejected.

The system underneath

The build is CMS-driven rather than page-by-page. Expert profiles run on a collection with a shared template, categories drive the directory's filtering, and the marketing pages assemble from a consistent Relume component library.
That structure wasn't a preference, it was the actual requirement. A small, non-technical team needed to keep adding experts, categories, and profiles indefinitely without a developer rebuilding a layout every time the network grew. A marketplace that requires engineering attention to add a member is a marketplace that stops growing the week the engineer gets busy.
Everything is responsive across mobile, tablet, and desktop, with the same components carrying through rather than separate mobile treatments bolted on afterward.

Why it matters

A marketplace only works if both sides trust it and the operating team can maintain it. The design work went into making the vetting visible and the directory easy to scan. The system work went into making sure the site could outgrow its launch-day content without asking anyone for help.
