Personal Character Exploration in 3D-Inspired Illustration
Overview
Designed a stylized character sheet inspired by Pixar’s animation style, exploring how personality, expression, and identity can be translated into a cohesive visual system.
The project focuses on capturing likeness while adapting it into a more expressive, animation-driven form through multiple facial expressions and a unified character design.

This project explores how a familiar identity can be reinterpreted through a Pixar-inspired lens, balancing realism with exaggeration.
The Challenge
Translating a real person into an animated style introduces several challenges:
Simplifying features without losing likeness
Maintaining consistency across multiple expressions
Achieving expressive range without distortion
Adapting proportions to fit a stylized animation aesthetic
The goal was to create a character that feels:
Recognizable, expressive, and visually cohesive.
reative Approach
The design process focused on three core areas:
Stylization
Facial features were simplified and slightly exaggerated to align with Pixar-inspired proportions—softer contours, larger eyes, and smoother geometry—while preserving defining characteristics.
Expression System
A set of expression variations was developed to test the character’s emotional range - The Serious Confident Face, The Wink, The Thoughtful and The Excited.
Each expression was designed to feel distinct while maintaining structural consistency across:
Eye shape and positioning
Mouth movement
Facial proportions
This ensures the character remains recognizable in motion or sequence.
