VenExeka is in the logistics industry and handles large volumes of shipment and delivery data on a daily basis. They wanted the ability to perform powerful data analytics on their operational KPIs to track performance, identify bottlenecks and make informed business decisions. I was tasked with developing a Power BI dashboard to provide live analytics and reporting.
The first step involved connecting Power BI to the company's SQL database which housed shipment records. Various tables containing data on shipments, deliveries, locations, customers etc. were imported. The data was then cleaned, transformed and modelling using Power Query.
Several charts, graphs and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) were designed based on the business requirements. These included maps to track deliveries in real-time, bar graphs to compare branch performance, traffic light indicators for SLA compliance and more.
The dashboard was then published to the Power BI service and integrated with their intranet portal using embed codes. This allowed employees across departments to access the interactive reports from any device.
Setting up automatic scheduled refreshes ensured the dashboard always had the latest data. With Power BI, VenExeka now has a centralized platform for live analytics and data-driven decision-making. The project was a success in bringing their data to life through interactive visualizations.
