Streamlining app experience to keep busy drivers safe while they're on the go.

Bubblin, a laundry service offering convenient pickup, washing, and delivery, sought a rebrand and redesign of their mobile app to cater to clients, washers, and drivers. Our team redesigned the driver's app, a crucial component aligning with Bubblin's refreshed branding.
Through user-centered design principles and an in-depth understanding of the drivers' needs, we crafted an intuitive and visually appealing interface. The redesign incorporated task management, route planning, and real-time communication, streamlining workflows and enabling seamless navigation throughout the laundry process.

Problem

Drivers need a reliable, simple, and accessible solution to manage laundry pick-ups and drop-offs. They require a system to:
Easily identify which orders are ready for collection
View which orders are ready for delivery
Allows access to accept or reject new tasks
View the exact locations they need to visit
Provides easy navigation for their routes.
The app must be intuitive enough for use while on-the-go, ensuring that drivers can quickly and safely navigate their tasks while driving. The goal is to ensure they can operate efficiently without needing to focus too much attention on the app while driving.

Solution

Drivers are essential to Bubblin's operations, handling the pickup and delivery of dirty and clean clothes. My focus was on designing the driver's dashboard - their central command hub.
The dashboard serves as the home screen, providing an overview of Available Orders to accept or reject on-the-go, as well as Current Orders for the day organized by pickup/drop-off sequence. Both sections display key details like dates, payments, distances, and map views of order locations.
This intuitive dashboard allows drivers to efficiently manage their daily workflows, optimizing routes and ensuring seamless pickups and deliveries for a delightful customer experience.

Discovery

The design process began with a kickoff meeting over Zoom. I reviewed the project plan alongside previous materials to avoid redundancy. The team needed clarity on our design goals.

Client Takeaways

Diving into the client's materials revealed a focus on redesigning the app for drivers, distinct from existing apps for users and washers. Key deliverables included user flows, wireframes, UI iterations, and a developer handoff.

Existing Design Evaluation

The client granted creative freedom, and I evaluated the prior design, noting that it featured a clean, light aesthetic. The background was primarily white with vibrant Miami colors incorporated to create an appealing experience.

Design Process & UI Iterations

Conducting competitive research on delivery apps informed my design of the dashboard. I prioritized functionality and the safety of drivers on the move while collaborating with the team to refine and finalize our design solutions.
Final UI choices were presented to the client for approval along with impactful features like a toggled map and streamlined navigation for functionalities such as deliveries.

Developer Handoff

To complete the process, I ensured a smooth transition to developers by including clear annotations and measurements in my designs. This detailed documentation aimed to eliminate uncertainty during development, ensuring the interface's functionality was well understood.
