Ilustrafest Website - Ilustration Festival in Madrid

Jorge Gutiérrez Marco

Ilustrafest is a yearly Festival in Madrid dedicated to illustration. It's organized by UDIT, Madrid's Top Design University (where I earned my Multimedia and Graphic Design Degree). I was contacted by them to create a website that could serve as a way of showcasing all the artists and initiatives that have been done over the years.
The tech stack
How do I make this? I was no stranger to Webflow, but I wasn't too happy with it being my main tool for this project, due to budget reasons. I decided to give it a go with Framer. My previous experience with Framer was making my Portfolio, which you can find here: www.jorrge.xyz, so I was a novice. Yet, since I am a fast learner, I learnt the ropes quite easily.
The problem
Here comes the problem: the Festival runs every year, and it all started back in 2023. How can I make a section that updates whenever we want, but also serves as a repository of every artist that has taken part in the festival? With a big, big component. The component is made of two sections, mainly: the years where the festival has been held, and the initiatives that were done each year, including the artists that were invited. We are not talking about 10 artists each year, but more like 20-30, each with 2-4 images of works. So the layout needed to be clean, ordered, but also easy on the eye.
The component
Behold, the component I talked about. It's probably too simple for most of the Framer Experts out there, but it makes me happy seeing that it works flawlessly.
Take a better look at the component, here: https://ilustrafest.udit.es/ediciones-anteriores How is it done? CMS Collections fill the content. Each author has their own CMS page with the name, description, and images. Then, the component calls all that info into the layout, ordering it by year (that also is being called in the Collection). Pretty simple, but it works. The downsides of it are that I had to duplicate it several times to cover each breakpoint, and link each interaction that you see there.
The result
It's probably a very simple website, but I am so happy that I was able to work on it. Seeing this as my first proper Framer project makes me truly happy.
