Overview

Lucas Mahoney is a lamp worker from America who has been creating art with borosilicate glass for the past 20+ years.
This project for Hanabi Glass Studio started off as a simple logo design request but evolved into a branding and strategy project with the goal of improving the company's presence and knowledge of it's artworks within Japan to allow the owner to earn a living by only needing to do what he loves and nothing more.

Approach

The project began with a request for a logo to be used on Instagram to help raise public knowledge of his artwork. We would often brainstorm about what type of glassworks would sell, the target audience, and sales location among other things. Over the span of a few months, I created multiple variations of logos and polished them until we had something that not only represented what he does, but something that would fit his vision for his brand.

Contributions

Crafted a Logo that the owner loved, was recognizable, works in multiple colors, and is easy to use across various forms of marketing materials.
Collaborated in the creation of a brand that would not only reach but be well loved by the targeted market
Define target audience, though initially the target audience we had discussed was rather wide, a pivot in the choice of artwork creations helped to target a more niche and receptive audience.

Results

The success of the project was clear when the client was able to raise sales of their artwork to the point where they no longer needed to work multiple jobs to be able to pay their bills. They were featured in several Japanese magazines as well as their artwork. They have been interviewed many times on Youtube by their client base. And lastly they sale their artwork no only in Japan but internationally as well.
