TEASER

INT. POLICE PRECINCT-NIGHT

After a long day’s work the police go home to their loving spouses. But sitting alone in a dark room a lone detective still labors away by his desk. John Jones (33), Caucasian and muscular looks over case files, scanning for clues the same way an eagle scans for prey!

JOHN JONES

I know you’re here! You won’t escape me!

John’s focus intensified with every second his answers eluded him. But a rare moment comes as he looks away, spotting his beloved. Diane Meade(33) was a blonde bombshell, Caucasian, slender and curvy. One of the few things that could tear the dutiful officer from his work.

JOHN JONES

Diane!

Diane kisses John.

DIANE

Are you ready to go, sweetie?

JOHN JONES

Our date? I’m afraid I’ll have to cancel.

DIANE

And why is that?

John points Diane to the pile of case files on his desk, and her eyes widen with shock as she picks up one, taking a closer look.

DIANE

These cases they’re all connected to Lex Luthor! Aren’t they?

JOHN JONES

Too true, my love!

DIANE

But weren’t you told to back off from this? Something about Luthor’s company donating a billion to the city?

JOHN JONES

A political move to give himself the appearance of a philanthropist. But make no mistake, Luthor is an evil man!

Diane puts the file back on the desk, taking John’s hands and looking him in the eyes with concern.

DIANE

John, I’m worried! You’re getting obsessed over this!

JOHN JONES

I have to obsess over this, or who else will?

DIANE

Sweetie, Luthor’s a powerful man. You don’t want him as an enemy!

JOHN JONES

And what of his victims? Would you have me pretend they don’t exist?

DIANE

No! My conscience would never forgive me!

JOHN JONES

Then what?

DIANE

I just don’t know! But what I do is that you can’t right all the world’s wrongs by yourself.

JOHN JONES

I feel so powerless! Even as more of these…superheroes appear, helping humanity’s hurts. Nothing changes.

Diane kisses John.

DIANE

I see now there’s no changing your mind. So the best I can give you is good luck. And our date is tomorrow the latest!

JOHN JONES

Understood!

Diane leaves the room with a reluctant smile, waving John goodbye, but as he returns to his work a shock wave washes over him! It was a chorus of terror, the screams of dozens of people echoed through his mind!

In searching for the source, he frantically looked across the room, seeing no one. But soon, he calmed down, gazing upwards as he realized it was above him!

JOHN JONES

From one job to the next! No rest for the weary!

John swiftly stood up from his seat, revealing his true form! His head went bald, his skin turned green and in place of his clothes was blue pants and long cape. Gone was John Jones, but in his place was the Martian man hunter!

John flies up to the ceiling, phasing true it as if he were a ghost.

EXT.CITY

John flies through the air, scanning for the source of the screaming, and swiftly finds it. It was a massive passenger plane with a broken fiery wing, falling toward a skyscraper!

JOHN JONES

Oh no!

John cuts through the air at top speed, racing against the plane to reach the skyscraper. It beats him to the finish, nearing the building by inches. But as it‘s about to make contact, John extends his arm out like rubber, touching it.

Upon contact the building becomes intangible and the plane passes through it like a ghost. But as John breezes a sigh of relief, he sees it about to hit other buildings instead!

JOHN JONES

Good grief!

Again, John races against the plane, but just as before it reaches the buildings before him. However, just as calamity strikes, his arms burst into dozens and dozens of tentacles, touching each one.

John shields the building from the plane‘s onslaught with his intangibly. He increases his tentacles, extending them more and more than it goes! It passes through the city like a phantasm, spreading terror to the citizens.

JOHN JONES

I have to risk it!

The plane continues its descent, going to the heart of the city. John flies to it, trying to catch it. But as he gets close to it, one of its engines flies off in a fiery explosion!

JOHN JONES

Fire!

The fiery engine hits John in the face, knocking him away from the plane. It nears the busy streets below, preparing to crush the thousands! But summoning the last of his strength, John again extends his arm like rubber, finally touching it.

The plane quickly becomes intangible, passing through the street spreading fear, but no casualties. And with a might pull of his arm, John brings it up, placing it on safe ground!

John breaths a sigh of relief.

JOHN JONES

Great Phobos that was close, too close. Perhaps Diane was right? I am merely just a man!
