Cybele Malinowski reached out to me via Contra to update her Squarespace site, originally. As a photographer, with a large backlog of work, she needed a more performant solution that shows off her work elegantly, feels COOL, and is easy to update. She had mentioned in passing that she was building a Framer website, but was with another designer. I helped her with the temporary Squarespace site, and eventually she reached out, asking me to take over the Framer website build.

Once I had my hands on the Framer project, we started iterating together on this incomplete project. And, with her direction, we were able to make an authentic, engaging, and performant multipage Framer website — her own home for her work, on the internet.

Since we weren't starting from scratch, we had lots of the basics for the website already covered. Our first objective was clarifying creative direction, and thanks to Cybele's work, we had a plenty of content to work with.

Once we were set on the creative direction, I began working on the website-native things like nav bars, Content Management System collections, and animations. Next up was scalability. I tweaked how content was displayed and migrated to a dedicated CDN using BunnyCDN so she could get fast, global hosting of her work for pennies, instead of spending hundreds of dollars a month in server fee's. All that was left was a final QA, responsiveness check, and content loading.

With the CMS collections, Cybele was able to load thousands of photos to her Framer website with relative ease, and had her backlog of over 20 years of work on her new website.

Cybele's website started out on Squarespace, migrated initially to Framer, but wasn't complete. I was able to take over the project and build her something that she is truly proud of showing off to prospective clients. She wanted a website that truly "feels like Cybele" and, although it took a little while, we were able to bring this project live. And now she has her home on the internet.
