Designing Anana — A Nonna-Centered Cooking Platform
Anana is an online cooking platform focused on preserving and sharing authentic Italian recipes taught by nonnas (grandparents). The goal was to translate the warmth and simplicity of home cooking into a digital product that feels calm, human, and easy to use.
I worked on the product from scratch, closely collaborating with the founder Teo from early ideation through low-fidelity wireframes to final high-fidelity UI design. This included defining the product structure, key user flows, and overall experience across the platform.
One of the main challenges was to create an experience that feels simpler and more usable than existing cooking platforms, which are often content-heavy and overwhelming. A strong focus was placed on mobile usability, ensuring recipes, videos, and steps are easy to follow while cooking.
The final design prioritizes clarity, hierarchy, and restraint — a minimal interface that stays out of the way and lets the content, stories, and cooking process take center stage.
