If you’re reading this, chances are there’s a big part of you that’s pondering the thought of joining our Mind-Body Groups. I’m more than certain you have a whole list of questions about what the first initial session will be like. Odds are, you might be a tad bit apprehensive. That’s more than okay! Stepping outside of your comfort zone, taking leaps of faith on your healing journey, and making progress toward a breakthrough can be a long and winding road. However, in the long run, I know it can be rewarding and fruitful!
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO BE VULNERABLE?
Mind-Body Groups are all about human connection, bonding with others, forming relationships, and healing together. Combining all of those things is the key ingredient for battling anxiety and fear. When you forge vulnerability and genuine connection together. It builds trust. “Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they’re never weaknesses,” said Brene Brown. Trust is a powerful thing, and I’m sure many of us have stories of when our trust was broken before. When trust is broken, it can lead to you building a wall. Putting on protective armor and not wanting to let others in. When you’re surrounded by other individuals who have walked similar paths in life, it makes you feel less alone in this big world.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT MY FIRST SESSION?
I’m sure you know the old saying, “there’s a first for everything.” So, this will be your first time joining a Mind-Body Group. Even just deciding to join is a wonderfully courageous decision. Taking the first step is always the hardest thing to do. “Vulnerability is not weakness, and the uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure we face every day are not optional. Our only choice is a question of engagement. Our willingness to own and engage with our vulnerability determines the depth of our courage and the clarity of our purpose; the level to which we protect ourselves from being vulnerable is a measure of our fear and disconnection.” explains Brene Brown. I’m a firm believer that trusting your gut leads you right where you need to be. At your first meeting, expect to be welcomed with open arms. This will be the time where we learn each other's names and build the first foundation with one another. Mind-Body Group is a safe place for all, and a no judgment zone.
