Day & Night Dubai - A City Guide With an Editorial Point of View
Day & Night Dubai is a curated guide to the places, events and experiences that give the city its rhythm — from first light to late night.
I delivered the project from strategy through launch: positioning, identity, UX/UI, and the Framer build.
The challenge
Dubai has no shortage of things to do. The problem is choosing.
Most discovery platforms in the city solve this by listing everything, which solves nothing — a visitor scrolling three hundred entries is no closer to a decision than one scrolling zero. The gap wasn't coverage. It was a point of view.
The brief had three requirements that pull against each other: useful enough to plan a real evening around, edited enough to be trusted, and expressive enough to actually feel like Dubai rather than a generic listings site.
The approach
Discover by mood, place and time.
The strategy started with how people actually decide. Nobody opens a city guide thinking "show me category: restaurants." They think "somewhere outdoors, near the water, tonight." So the structure follows mood, place and time — the day-to-night rhythm the brand is named after — instead of mirroring a database schema.
The identity had to stretch across cultural mornings and after-dark plans without switching personality halfway. I built it on warm restraint with a sharper urban edge — one voice that holds heritage sites, rooftops, beaches and late-night venues without any of them looking out of place.
On the UX side, the work was reduction: turning a dense catalogue into something calm and browsable. Events and attractions share one visual language while keeping their own character, and clear filters do the practical work so the editorial layer can do the persuading.
The outcome
One connected discovery system where events and attractions previously lived apart, and one continuous identity that carries the brand from morning to late night without changing voice.
The result is flexible enough to hold anything the city adds, structured enough to stay usable as the catalogue grows, and art-directed enough that it reads as curated rather than aggregated.
The principle
Built to help people spend less time searching and more time in the city.
Day & Night Dubai isn't a directory. It's an editorial lens on the city — useful in the moment, recognisable at a glance, and paced to match how Dubai actually moves.
