Tell a story and see it come true in the form of a 3D animated story on your tablet’s screen.
The Challenge
We aimed to tackle kids' preference for TV and the internet over books by creating an interactive storytelling product that combines the best of both worlds: fostering direct parent-child interaction while engaging children visually and audibly.

Scope of Project
Creating a storytelling application for mobile as a startup. We raised ~$200k in funding and employed 9 people at the prime of our company. A significant part of the venture involved managing administrative tasks, managing our employees, and reporting to our investors.
Ensuring our promise of bringing words to life required setting boundaries for a manageable scope. This included interactive characters, predefined actions, and a 3D space tailored for tablets, our primary user device.
We focused on creating an intuitive environment for storytelling, starting in 2021. We built over 30 locations with dynamic cameras, crafted 50+ characters with diverse actions, and developed a command system. Our language analysis tool translated sentences into commands, and we offered various input methods.
Despite challenges in user experience, we persisted, finding a breakthrough at the 2022 BETT London education show. We shifted focus to an educational approach, tailoring systems for student-teacher workflows.

Results
Funding conflicts halted our nearly complete application's launch. Despite this setback, our core team persisted, in self-funding development in 2023. We're determined to see the project through, despite corporate challenges.
My Takeaway
Prioritizing MVPs and seeking user input early is crucial. We got too attached to our idea and neglected user feedback, spending time on unnecessary features. User interviews revealed confusion, prompting us to simplify and prioritize usability.
