Backstory

Mid November, Contra had a Webflow challenge that I decided to participate in, which led me down a deep exploration path that eventually made me realize my scope might be too large for the actual timeline. This inevitably caused me to submit a half baked attempt to the challenge, primarily because of two reasons. The first being that there were aspects to the project I didn't plan well, and the second being that I didn't have enough experience in the implementation route I was going for.
But it started as every project does, which was exploring the core concept. I decided to go for something slightly interesting and decided to model a camera.

1. Starting off - Modelling

Due to my constant underestimation of complexity and overestimation of ability, I decided to model the camera from scratch. A good chunk of the inspiration came from Sigma BF camera and Nuevo Tokyo Vwfndr.

1.2 Texturing

Once I settled on the actual shape of the camera, I went over to texturing, which I initially went with a stainless steel look, but then decided to also add a black variant which is named VANTA.

The initial ideas - Hero Section

For some reason I got stuck on the idea of Sunflower Memories as the fictional studio that built the camera, which is where I drew the inspiration for the hero section, where I explored a sunflower field and various flower based concepts.

Animating concepts - Hero Section

Eventually animating the scenes, the idea was for this to be an image sequence animation on the hero section, which I eventually regretted, but we ball...

Subsequent Section ideas - Lens

Once the initial hero section was done, I moved on to building out animations for the subsequent sections, which showcase the different lens options.

Shots that never made it

Here are renders/screens/explorations that never made it anywhere, but i think are pretty cool.
