Every Shelter is a humanitarian nonprofit helping refugees build durable homes in East Africa. Their site has to raise money, keep field stories flowing, and stay light enough that their own team runs it after launch. I built it end-to-end in Framer: a working prototype nine days after kickoff, launched in six weeks, handed over fully client-managed.
My role: end-to-end design and build. AlwaysCreative supplied the desktop direction; I owned responsive design across every breakpoint, motion, CMS architecture, content migration, third-party integrations, and launch support.

What I did

8+ pages in Framer, fully responsive across desktop, tablet, and mobile
Two main CMS collections (News & Stories, Our Work) with index pages, detail templates, and tag-based filtering
Two categorical CMS collections for filtering
Two other CMS collections (Team members, Docuseries) for easy client-side updates
Migrated 45 legacy blog posts from WordPress via a single CSV import
Wired FundraiseUp donation embeds sitewide, with an improved trigger script vibe coded through Claude
Built a custom code component to fix a third-party newsletter form that Framer's Embed component kept breaking
Tuned the motion separately per device instead of forcing one animation system across all screens

The motion call

The desktop design ran on scroll-tied animation: a sticky section holds while content reveals at the pace of the scroll. On mobile it dragged, so I stopped forcing it. Mobile got a simplified flow instead, no sticky elements, a normal image-text scroll, each image animating once as it enters the viewport. The motion stays, the friction goes. The traffic split proved the call worth making: ~72% of visitors came in on desktop, where the choreography lives, while the simplified flow keeps the mobile quarter clean.

Results

First 90 days after launch:
2.5K unique visitors, 5.8K page views, 3m36s average session
540 referrals from Google, the largest single source, so the site gets found on its own
/get-involved was the second-most-visited page after the homepage, the page you want pulling traffic on a fundraising site
Reached its field: Uganda drew 106 visitors, behind only the US
Client took full CMS ownership on day one, no handholding

"It has been a real joy working with you Hannes. Great work." — Levi Huddleston, Partner, AlwaysCreative
