The Little Engine List is a curated, editorial-style directory that highlights the best independent service providers in each city β starting with Austin, Texas. The goal was to create an emotive, human-centered digital experience that celebrates local talent while remaining SEO-friendly and easily scalable to new locations.
This project bridges storytelling and technology β blending cinematic design with smooth performance to offer a premium yet accessible browsing experience.

The challenge was to design and develop a visually-driven, editorial-quality web directory that feels as curated as Eater or Wirecutter, but focused on local professionals such as trainers, stylists, therapists, and creatives.
The objectives included:
Building a fast and SEO-optimized website
Designing an immersive brand experience
Allowing simple content management and scalability
Highlighting stories and profiles of trusted local providers
Offering clear calls-to-action for nominations and exploration
