Intro

Freddie Med is a electronic medical records (EMR) solution designed to streamline various processes within medical clinics. In this project, my role was to bring a fresh perspective to the design and user experience, collaborating with a team of developers and designers to enhance the application's functionality and usability.

Project Objective

The primary objective of the "Freddie Med" project was to revamp the existing EMR solution to address its growing complexity and inefficiencies. The specific goals included:
Implementation of a New Working Methodology: To introduce a more effective methodology for communication and collaboration between design, development, and testing teams, ensuring agile development and scalability.
Design Library for Consistency: To create a design library that enforces visual consistency and allows for the reuse of essential components, making design assets accessible and consistent throughout the project.

My Role

As a designer, I joined the project to help achieve these objectives and enhance the overall user experience of "Freddie Med." My responsibilities included:
Conducting a comprehensive UX audit for the app to identify areas for improvement.
Collaborating with the project manager, developers, and another design consultant to review and redesign the application.
Creating a design library to ensure visual consistency and facilitate the reuse of design components.

Challenges

The project faced several challenges, including:
Complexity of the Application: "Freddie Med" was a complex application with multiple functionalities, which required careful consideration to ensure a seamless user experience.
Lack of Methodology: The existing processes for design, implementation, and testing were inefficient, hindering agile development.
Inconsistent Design Assets: The design assets lacked visual consistency, making it challenging to maintain a cohesive user interface.

Solution

To address these challenges, the project took the following steps:
Implementation of Agile Methodology: A new working methodology was introduced to improve communication and collaboration between teams, allowing for more agile development and scalability.
Design Library Creation: A comprehensive design library was established to ensure visual consistency and enable the easy reuse of essential design components.

Results

The project yielded substantial outcomes:
Efficient Collaboration: The new working methodology improved communication and collaboration between design, development, and testing teams, leading to more efficient project workflows. Consistent Design: The design library provided a centralized resource for design assets, ensuring visual consistency across the application.

Conclusion

The "Freddie Med" project was a transformative endeavor aimed at enhancing an EMR solution used by medical clinics. By implementing a new working methodology and creating a design library, we successfully addressed the project's challenges, resulting in more efficient collaboration and a visually consistent user interface. This project exemplified the value of design thinking and agile methodologies in the realm of healthcare technology.
