Intro

In this case study, we'll explore another self-initiated web design project powered by Relume in Webflow. The "Xmas ReTree" project is a compelling initiative that seeks to address the environmental impact of Christmas festivities by promoting the concept of closed loops and sustainable practices.

Inspiration

Xmas ReTree was inspired by the story of "London Christmas Tree Rental," two entrepreneurs who initiated a side hustle renting Christmas trees to reduce the environmental impact of discarded trees. This inspiring story prompted the creation of the Xmas ReTree website.

Color Palette and Typography

  • The color scheme blends traditional Christmas colors, featuring dark green, salmon red, and mint green.
  • The chosen font, "Young Serif," adds a touch of nostalgia, reminiscent of the Windsor font used in the 1970s "Whole Earth Catalog."

Website Sections

Hero Section

Features an animated Xmas tree constructed from three mint green triangles set against a gradient background of red and green.

Bold typography presents the startling message: "7 MILLION CHRISTMAS TREES ENTER LANDFILL EVERY YEAR FOR THE SAKE OF 3 WEEKS OF PLEASURE."

How-to Section

Utilizes a vertical timeline with illustrations to outline a simple three-step process: Rent, Water, Return.

Statement Section

Reinforces the project's mission with the statement: "WE SEEK TO REDUCE THE WASTE PRODUCED BY CHRISTMAS FESTIVE AND CREATE CLOSED LOOPS."

A running marquee features a recycled tree logo and the message "Happy Post Xmas, Happy Live Tree."

Featured Products Section

Showcases six different types of Christmas trees, each labeled with its species name, emphasizing the diversity of sustainable options.

About Section

Introduces the individuals behind the project, providing insight into the people driving the Xmas ReTree initiative.

Testimonial Section

Highlights the positive impact of Xmas ReTree through user testimonials, underscoring the project's success in promoting sustainable holiday practices.

Final CTA Section

The Final Call to Action Section in the Xmas ReTree project is designed to prompt visitors to take action. Its main job is to encourage people to register for the initiative in the coming year (2023). It does this by presenting a clear and inviting "Register for 2023" button, making it easy for visitors to join the project and support its sustainability goals. This section plays a vital role in turning website visitors into active participants in the Xmas ReTree initiative, ensuring its success over time.

Conclusion

The Xmas ReTree web design project serves as a testament to the creative power of Relume in Webflow. By combining visually striking design elements, a compelling message, and a focus on sustainability, this project effectively communicates the importance of rethinking Christmas tree disposal. Xmas ReTree strives to create a more eco-friendly and closed-loop approach to Christmas festivities, showcasing how design can inspire positive change.
