Swipe apps treat people as photos. For Albanians at home and in the diaspora, the real question is whether you can hold a conversation, and most apps never get there. The brief was a dating app where the conversation comes first and photos are earned.
What I built
ODA, a voice-first dating app live on the App Store, with the Google Play launch in progress.
No swiping. Every evening at 20:00 the app opens and each member gets three chosen matches, which keeps the product calm and gives people a reason to come back daily
Voice before face. Members hear each other first; photos are revealed through conversation, never for payment
Onboarding, profiles, matching, chat, push notifications and reporting, built in React Native / Expo on a Supabase backend with row-level security and edge functions
Moderation and an operations control room so the team sees issues, funnel and errors in one place
App Store Connect and Google Play handled through the store APIs: signing, TestFlight, a 16-day closed test on Android, review submissions and the back-and-forth with reviewers
Launch marketing built in the same project: a marketing site at odadating.com with SEO pages, and animated ad campaigns for TikTok and Instagram
Stack
React Native, Expo and EAS, TypeScript, Supabase (Postgres, auth, edge functions), push notifications, App Store Connect API, Google Play Console, Next.js for the website.
Outcome
Shipped through Apple review and live on the App Store, Android closed test passed and production access requested, with daily operations visible in the control room. Website at https://odadating.com.
What this looks like for your project
A scope doc with screens and acceptance criteria, a TestFlight build in the first week, store submission handled end to end, and a release runbook your team can follow without me.
Voice-first dating app for Albania and the diaspora: no swiping, three matches a night at 20:00. Expo + Supabase, live on the App Store, Google Play in review.
