Swychr: Rebuilding a Global Payments Experience

The Problem

Swychr is a global fintech platform that lets users send and receive money internationally through a digital wallet. Users can fund their wallet using traditional bank transfers or cryptocurrency.
Before I joined, the product was struggling. Google Play Store reviews told the story clearly: users found the interface confusing and outdated, the sign-up flow was frustrating, navigation made core tasks harder than they needed to be, and the marketing website lacked clarity and trust.
These weren't edge cases. They were patterns. The friction was real, and it was costing the product users.
The company needed a complete UX overhaul to simplify the experience, improve usability, and make the platform easier to understand and adopt.

My Role

I worked as a contract Product Designer for approximately 7 months (October 2025 to May 2026), collaborating closely with founder Aaron Munga and the product manager.
I led the redesign from research through high-fidelity design, owning the full design process end to end.

The Process

Research & Discovery
I started by analyzing existing user feedback, Google Play Store reviews, and conducting UX research using Google Forms. The goal was to map out exactly where users were getting stuck and why.
The patterns were consistent: onboarding confusion, unclear navigation, and a general lack of trust in the interface.
Defining Improvements
Working with stakeholders, I translated research findings into concrete product improvements. This meant prioritizing the flows that had the highest friction and the biggest impact on retention.
Design Execution
From there, I moved through user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, and interactive prototypes. I also built a reusable design system to keep the product consistent as it scaled.

I also redesigned approximately 8 core pages of the marketing website to improve clarity, trust, and conversion.

The Outcome

The redesigned product was successfully implemented and released. The live website is at swychr.com, though the current implementation differs from the original designs due to technical constraints on the development side.
According to founder Aaron Munga:
The new sign-up experience became significantly easier for users to complete
Overall usability improved across both the app and website
Users found the platform easier to navigate and understand
The redesign addressed many of the usability issues that had generated negative feedback
Note: The designs shown in this case study represent my original work as delivered. The live product may differ from these designs due to development implementation decisions outside my scope.
