Melanie and her team, recognized experts in mergers and acquisitions, possessed a highly valuable, proprietary educational prototype.
This prototype was meticulously crafted over years of industry experience and refined by professional graphic design.
Initially presented as a comprehensive PowerPoint deck, it served as an exhaustive reference library of their specialized knowledge.
It was designed for internal use and also for easy consumption and broad scalability for sales to other companies.
Their primary objective was to transition this unique intellectual property into a fully functional, custom-designed online education product hosted on the Kajabi platform.
This transformation demanded a solution that would deviate significantly from standard Kajabi course aesthetics, instead mirroring their bespoke design and intricate structural details precisely.
The ultimate aim was to create a digital product that was as intuitive and visually compelling as their original prototype.
The Challenge & Our Role
The challenge was profound and multi-faceted:
To take a highly custom, proprietary educational prototype—originally a static, linear PowerPoint presentation—and meticulously recreate it as an interactive, dynamic, and fully functional Kajabi product.
This undertaking meant completely re-imagining the standard, often restrictive, Kajabi course structure to perfectly accommodate their unique, non-linear information architecture and finely tuned custom visual design.
The expectation was that the final product would feel less like a typical online course and more like a custom-built software application.
My specific role was to serve as the lead custom developer, employing advanced coding techniques across Liquid, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
This extensive coding was necessary to customize every conceivable aspect of the Kajabi product and its associated website templates.
The overarching goal was to build a 'course' that defied conventional Kajabi aesthetics and functionality, looking and interacting nothing like a typical Kajabi course.
Instead, it needed to emerge as a bespoke, highly branded application that perfectly matched their prototype's intricate design, navigation pathways, and sophisticated content presentation.
The Process
My process for this project involved an iterative, collaborative, and deeply custom approach tailored specifically to Melanie's unique requirements.
After initial, in-depth consultation calls where Melanie meticulously detailed the intricate structure, navigation pathways, and precise visual design elements of her PowerPoint prototype, I embarked on a bespoke development journey.
I leveraged Kajabi’s powerful code editor to implement extensive custom Liquid, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
This comprehensive coding permitted me to effectively override default template styles and inject entirely new sections, functionalities, and interactive elements not natively available in Kajabi.
I meticulously customized the product template down to the smallest detail to precisely match the unique structure, visual branding, and interactive elements envisioned in their prototype.
This rigorous attention to detail ensured that the navigation, content presentation, multimedia integration, and overall user experience were in perfect alignment with their specific vision.
Regular, structured progress updates and iterative feedback sessions with Melanie and her team were crucial, allowing for continuous refinement until it not only met but exceeded their exact specifications and aesthetic requirements.
The Build & Outcome
I successfully transformed Melanie's proprietary M&A education prototype into a groundbreaking, truly custom Kajabi product.
This unique offering now stands distinctly apart from typical Kajabi courses, featuring a completely customized design aesthetic and bespoke functionality that precisely mirrors the intricate details and user experience of their original PowerPoint prototype.
Through extensive bespoke coding—encompassing sophisticated Liquid templating, dynamic JavaScript interactions, structured HTML, and precise CSS styling—every single aspect of the product and its associated website templates was tailored.
This tailoring flawlessly fit their intricate content structure, specific navigation logic, and established visual branding guidelines.
The result is a seamless, highly intuitive, and exceptionally effective reference library that perfectly embodies and showcases their valuable intellectual property in an accessible digital format.
