About Coco's Kampong
Coco’s Kampong is a vibrant educational series developed for primary classrooms, combining engaging storytelling with foundational learning in English and Math. Delivered through Knowledge Platform’s Learn Smart Classroom (LSC), the series follows the 5E instructional model to guide students from Grades 1to 5 through concepts aligned with a blended curriculum from Pakistan and Singapore.
Designed to be used both in schools and individually at home, the series makes learning fun and accessible led by Coco, a curious pink cat, and supported by a lively cast of young characters.
My Role in Storyboarding & Animation
For Coco’s Kampong, I was primarily responsible for visualizing and animating the "Engage" and "Explain" sections across both English and Math subjects. As the series gained popularity in schools, Science content was also introduced, and I continued my role in shaping its visual delivery.
Working alongside an incredibly talented team from Pakistan and Singapore, my core task was to translate educational scripts into clear, engaging visual sequences. I collaborated closely with illustrators to refine character actions, scene compositions, and transitions ensuring every storyboard captured both the learning intent and emotional tone.
Impact in the Classroom
Coco’s Kampong was successfully used in classrooms across Pakistan and Singapore, with strong engagement from both students and teachers. The content’s alignment with local syllabi meant teachers no longer needed to create lesson structures from scratch allowing them to focus on real learning moments.
Thanks to real-time, clicker-based assessments (via Knowledge Platform & Jazz), teachers could track progress instantly and spend more time supporting students who needed extra help. The result? Smarter teaching, better learning, and happier classrooms.
Beyond the Classroom - National Reach
Coco’s Kampong drew the attention of UNICEF, leading to a collaboration with Knowledge Platform and other top EdTech organizations in Pakistan. This partnership expanded the project into a televised series called “Coco ki Dunya”, designed specifically for children in areas without access to schools but with access to television and local cable.
Launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, the initiative aimed to keep learning going for children learning from home. Key lessons were translated into Urdu to ensure cultural and linguistic accessibility for a wider audience.
For this special project, I worked on the intro animation and the Engage and Explain sections for Science, this time collaborating with a team of brilliant Pakistani designers and animators. It was a deeply fulfilling experience contributing to a national education effort through creativity when it mattered most.
Thank You!
